Bad Pix of Good Food

good (to me!) food I eat, and the bad pictures I take of it – just for you!

Breakfast: My (Almost) Every Day Go-To

I love breakfast! Breakfast foods, anyway, just not usually at breakfast time.  But I have been really good in recent months about eating breakfast food at a reasonably breakfast-y hour!  I mix it up a little every now and then (like with these PANCAKES, for example), but this is pretty much my daily go-to breakfast: A fiber cereal and granola mix, with plain non-fat yogurt and fruit. In the winter, I often eat oatmeal instead, but the “winters” are short here in Florida, so cold cereals are my mainstay much of the year.

gotobreakfast1 And for the record, even though this is Bad Pix of Good Food, I still took the time to thoughtfully crop my toes out of the bottom of the image. You’re welcome. :)

Notice the food scale in the shot, which I have posted about previously as being a MUST HAVE. And for me, that goes double with cereals. Otherwise, I will bust out my Jethro bowl and GO TO TOWN on that ish! Seriously. Even as I type, I can hear my Jethro bowl and the four boxes of Quaker Oatmeal Squares that I got as BOGOs, trying to lure me into the kitchen!

Pictured here is Love Grown Foods‘ Sweet Cranberry Pecan granola, which I LOVE! It makes it on my “Favoritest Faves!” list for sure.  I order this from Amazon, as it is hard to find in my local stores. I have tried many, many kinds of granola, and this is by far my fave.  Also, it’s not just delicious-but-unhealthy clumps of  fat and sugar that some granolas can be.  But although it is quite reasonable, even “healthy” granolas are calorie dense, so I mix it with Fiber One Original to get a little more food in mah belly without the crazy calories.  I add a half-cup of plain non-fat yogurt (a long-time favorite of mine and more filling than my precious, precious milk), and berries/fruit de jour and end up with a yummy, fast and filling breakfast.  Oh, and because I am trying to boost my protein intake a little, I also eat a couple of boiled egg whites, or better yet, a couple egg-white & veggie mini-frittata-like-thingies that I bake in a muffin tin.  Another future post! :)

Today’s breakfast combo, with raspberries, blueberries and 2 mini-frittata-thingies came to approx. 326 calories. Get the Nutrition Info in this post.

Top o’ the mornin’ to ya!
